To volunteer with community harvests at the Colorado State University Orchard Mesa Research Station, please sign up through the volunteer form located here or on the Community Alliance for Education and Hunger Relief website. The form will be operational in the spring of 2017. You can always contact a member of the Community Alliance through the Grow Another Row email address.
To volunteer with Grow Another Row throughout the growing season, sign up by using the contact form on our website. We will match you with a grower who lives near you. Volunteers contact their growers and together you can set-up a system of collecting the produce that works best for you both at harvesting time. We only want to donate produce that can be consumed raw (e.g., no fruits that are only usable for jam or jelly). Volunteers are asked to sort through the produce to ensure its quality, weigh it on a common household scale, and report the weight to Grow Another Row. Grow Another Row donates to 7 food banks and emergency food programs. A few of the organizations request deliveries on certain days, but for the most part volunteers can deliver to any participating organization you choose. We are happy to deliver to other organizations that meet our criteria (see Community Partners). Community organizations and youth groups can also participate in special harvesting projects. If your organization would like to participate in a harvest, please contact us. Have a special skill, love to do marketing and social networking, have a big truck? You might not think you would be helpful to us but I bet you are. Contact us and we will brainstorm on how you can help. |
