Our Story
The idea of Grow Another Row is not new. A local mom was inspired by the founder of The Backyard Harvest in Moscow, Idaho. Although our growing conditions differ, these two communities share similar assets: talented and passionate gardeners and dedicated volunteers.
Our growers include individuals with gorgeous one-acre backyards and those with beautiful patio container gardens, commercial growers, and the Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station. Our volunteers are from all walks of life but share a belief in the value of volunteering for others. We need

Our 2016 Season
End of Season Update 5,926 pounds
2016 was full of changes and new challenges. We grew, harvested, and collected 5,926 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables and delivered it to hunger relief agencies in our valley. This sent our donations-to-date number to 25 tons in eight years.
This year, we expanded our gleaning activities by harvesting more fruit at the Colorado State University Western Colorado Research Center on Orchard Mesa. Thank you to all the volunteers who participated in those harvests. Grow Another Row volunteers grew more food by helping to maintain and donate the vegetables from the Children’s Service Learning Garden at the Orchard Mesa Research Station. A big thank you to the three Grow Another Row families who made time in their summer plans to weed, harvest, and beautify the ¼ acre garden.
But these changes pale in comparison to our next adventure – joining the Community Alliance for Education and Hunger Relief. As you can read more on our website, the Community Alliance has the potential to grow, harvest and donate 66 tons of healthy food to hunger relief in 2017. We would love your help, so please explore our website to learn more.
Thank you as always to the backyard growers who continue to grow and donate vegetables. Your contribution of beautiful, diverse produce is so valued, especially to organizations like Karis, which runs shelters for teens, and the Latimer House. The teens at Karis were undaunted by your vegetable challenges and boldly accepted vegetables that might have been out of their comfort zone.
It is a pleasure working with dedicated and caring people.
With Gratitude,
Amanda
